" THE FLOWERS BATTLE "
Glorious and exuberant urban chaos erupts every year as the locals celebrate this life-affirming ritual by throwing flowers everywhere and competing vigorously in constructing the most intricate and incredible displays for the colourful parade, one of the cheekiest festivals of its kind in Italy.. All the events that centre on commemorative Historical Procession based every year on different topics. There are drummers and flag - wavers who perform a competition called: ASTELUDO
Then there are a running relay race and the " Regata di Gozzi liguri ".
Moreover costume representations by night in the streets and squares of Old Centre, the " Ludum Balistre " - a competition with antic crossbows, the " Regata di San Secondo " , the feast of chestnuts.
And of course many other events all over the year as well, like the " Italian Song Festival " in Sanremo in February, the Easter sailing regattas, the Rally for ancient and luxury cars in April, the World Rally in October and the " West Liguria winter Championship” in November.
